What's it all about?
The building course is designed as a three part introduction to guitar building. The student may take one, two, or all three courses.
In the first course, the student learns the basics of guitar building, and constructs either a classical, or a steel string guitar chosen from any of the popular body styles.
The woods used will be; Sitka spruce for the top, Indian rosewood for the back and sides, Honduras mahogany for the neck, and ebony for the fingerboard and bridge ( when available, otherwise, Indian rosewood will be used ). Wood choices may be upgraded with an increase in price commensurate with the cost of the wood chosen. The student may, also, design a simple inlay for the head stock.
In the second course, the student may choose from either an "A" style mandolin, or a different style of guitar incorporating more individual design, i.e. a cut away, or "new" body style, as well as a more elaborate inlay.
In the third course, the student may choose from either an "F" style mandolin, or an Archtop guitar, or the student may choose to build a acoustic guitar of their own design.
" But I don't have any wood working experience"
Previous wood working experience is not required. I will walk the student through the process step by step, with plenty of opportunity to practice tricky operations.
Every thing the student needs for the course is supplied. Though the finishing process is not part of the course ( this could be a course all it's own ), a beautiful "factory" quality finish is included.
